And I'm writing this now because any time later in the day it will take forever for me to post this. I just had breakfast, Special K actually. I ate with Katey, Ashley and some of our cali and boulder friends. We have a test in global studies tomorrow, my first of the trip. Today, I have a small quiz in my ecology class. On Saturday we get into Salvador at 7 in the morning. I just want to get there so badly now. Last night we had a pub night and a Valentines Day dance in the Union. The dance was no different than a middle school dance, it was kind of lame but we all still had a pretty good time.
The ocean has been pretty rocky and at night, you can hear the massive waves smack against the ship when you're lying in bed. It actually makes the ship shake a little bit. Apparently those waves are nothing though, because when we head towards South Africa it is going to be alot more intense the crew says.
Alright well I just woke up and I'm still kind of out of it. I have more to post and I know once I leave here and sit in class that I will think of it all and become annoyed I didn't remember it all. I'm going to go get some coffee I guess, Ashley actually gave me a semester at sea coffee mug for valentines day yesterday because she knew I had been wanting one. So I am kind of anxious to use it for the first time. I'll post soon, and oh yeah, we're now 3 hours ahead of you mom and dad.

Good morning or what evertime it is there when you read this. I am racing your mom to respond to you. She is typing furiously on her computer next to me. How is the coffee on board? I would imagine pretty good with all the coffee available in the whole world to you. It is still about zero degrees with the wind chill here. Are you listening to any Brazilian music? It is great. Quincy Jones is supposed to be a special guest in Salvador for the Carnavale I heard he will be filming. Start practicing your Samba moves !! smooth seas and blue skys all my love Dad
Oh Alex, you are soo lucky...no not because you're traveling the world, but because you're not stuck here!!! It's sub-zero with ice everywhere. I've been stuck in for 40 hours and counting. We miss you, our new stools are here in the kitchen - we have 4 now and one will probably remain empty til' you come back.(God forbid I sit to eat)Steven has to get to his dress rehersal today regardless of the road conditions since the big opening night is tomorrow...he's so excited. WE'll send a group of pics as soon as we get them. BTW, I've started searching for our new family member - I'll keep you posted on that one!
Hey Alex...as you can see I've started signing my name after my comments so people don't get confused and think I wrote Taylor's profanity-laden comment on your other entry. So...sounds like you're having fun. I'm about to go out for the first time in about 48 hours (not counting walking around outside in the snow).

Alex, perhaps we should let Steven write your entries - he's pretty funny! Coffee!! - what a surprise, you should be getting the best in Brazil, in fact, you probably won't want to drink our American version after SAS. Guess you had recorded music at the Valentine's Day dance, do you have any type of live entertainment on board. Bet lots of students brought instruments - yes? You only have a short time left until your next port. Again, be really careful where you go. Are you able to communicate in Spanish? Hope you can soon post some pictures.
